5 Reasons To Vote FOR the FSPS Millage
KEEP OUR TEACHERS & KIDS SAFE
Protect our teachers and students at all 26 schools from modern-day threats. Includes new secure entry vestibules, card reader access systems, new video surveillance cameras, new fire alarms, ADA upgrades, parking lot lighting, security fencing, and two tornado shelters at each high school.
PREVENT OVERCROWDING
FSPS is growing! Half of our schools are over capacity, and over 450 elementary students are being forced transferred or bused away from their home school each day. Creating space at both high schools and shifting the 9th grade to high school allows 1,000 seats to be created at the lower levels, allowing all students to attend school in their designated attendance area.
NEW CAREER & TECHNOLOGY CENTER
Today’s global economy requires more advanced skills, specialized training, and increasing technology integration. At the same time, our workforce is agin and unemployment is low. Every student will have equal access to hands on, real-world training & certifications in health care, manufacturing, and technology careers – all in an effort to create a pipeline of talent for current and future employers. The goal is for each student to grade with a career plan and a skill set.
DISTRICT-WIDE MODERN TECHNOLOGY
Expand technology to all schools with one-to-one device rollout in Grades 3-12 with ongoing replacement cycle.
TAKE CARE OF AGING CLASSROOMS & BUILDINGS
Our school district is known for high academic achievement, but many of our high school learning environments are unable to support modern teaching and learning. The average age of our school buildings is 63-years-old, and it’s been 31 years since the community’s last major investment in our schools! Much-needed renovations include installing walls at open-space classrooms at 4 elementary schools and upgraded classroom, common, and hallway spaces at Darby Middle School.
