We want to thank the following supporters:

Fort Smith Classroom Teachers Association

I am thankful that so many of our friends and neighbors have invested the time, effort, energy, and hard work required to put a millage adjustment forward for a vote. This is a textbook example of citizen-led, grassroots-driven local control. I personally will be voting in support of this millage adjustment. However, I understand and support the voters of Fort Smith taking the time to think, pray, and learn all they can about this proposal. Once that occurs, I am confident that they will make the decision that is best for their families and the future of our city.

Representative George McGill

Our children deserve the best we can give them!

Kelley Jackson, Education

I believe the improvement of our public schools is a highly critical element of driving a competitive and healthy future development of our great community.

Thomas Wunderlich, Nestlé Infant Nutrition U.S. Gerber Products Company

Every school should have it where all visitors be buzzed in the bldg. by the office. In this day & age school security should be of utmost importance.

Tracy Person, Secretary to Asst. Principals @ Southside High School

As a principal, I endorse the millage for its safety features that are included and the emotional and social aspects of the plan.

Dussie Schwartz, Principal of Woods Elementary

There can be no harvest where the seeds are not planted. We all want to live in a society with a growing economy, good healthcare, and capable Civic leaders. But that is a harvest that doesn’t just magically appear; it takes one generation investing in the next, planting the necessary seeds for success. I wholeheartedly endorse the Millage 2018 as a needed investment into our kids.

Shelton Markham, Community Bible Church

We support the millage increase and all that it will mean for Fort Smith.

An exceptional school system is essential not only for our children and grandchildren but for the life and spirit of Fort Smith.

Kenneth Wallace, Retired Physician

I am a teacher in an open classroom school in the district. I support the millage 100%! Keeping kids safe is top priority.

Karen Mills, 3rd Grade Teacher

The future is now for our students and community. Let’s address small aged buildings lacking security and the need for a skilled workforce. No catch up!

Mike Thames, Retired Veterinarian

The millage increase is long overdue and our children deserve better. Investing in education is investing in the future!

William (Bud) Reeves, Pastor at First United Methodist Church and Parent

Our students deserve schools of the future, not schools of the past, and this requires funding to support the updates. Vote for OUR children’s futures!!

Lori Griffin, FSPS Elementary Principal

The Wiggins Family strongly endorses the Millage. This Millage is way overdue. Fort Smith schools mean so much to our family, and have prepared our children to be very successful college students.

David Wiggins, Director of Claims – BHC Insurance

I support the FSPS Millage because we not only have to invest in our kid’s future, but also in our community.

Alex Sanchez, Banker

With everything that’s going on in the world, the security of our students is the number one priority. I endorse this millage increase because it enhances security for school entrances. Our students should not fear going to school, and their parents shouldn’t be scared to send their kids to learn.

John Faught, Student

Our family strongly endorses this millage for Fort Smith Schools. Words can’t express how prepared our children were when they entered college, and we give all the credit to the Fort Smith school system. The facilities are in need of improvements so future students can be safe and secure.

Angela Wiggins, Dentist

The best investment as far as return goes was money that I spent on my college education. It ultimately completely transformed my life, and has paid for itself hundreds of thousands of times over. It would work that way in a community as well.

Craig Pair, President Control Technologies

I graduated from Northside High in 1986, and when I heard during a presentation that the millage toward schools had not been adjusted in over 30 years I was shocked. I believe it’s time we arm our schools & classrooms with tools to properly teach the next generations.

Debi Council, RN

From time to time we are afforded an opportunity to participate, collectively, as citizens, in writing the script for our future.. directly, with intention. This is one of those opportunities. I will be voting YES for the proposed millage as our local schools are the very fuel which power our future.

Steve Clark, Propak, Inc., Founder

Fort Smith Public Schools have been good stewards of the money entrusted to them. Multiple attempts to increase the millage have failed and the district has made do with available funding sources for the last 30+ years. It’s time to bring the facilities, safety and technology into the 21st century.

Cathy Williams, Retired / Parent of Two FSPS Graduates

I did not see waste in the 32 years I taught here; I saw a need for funding. Our society has allowed everyone access to guns, so we must fund protections at our schools. Our changing economy requires funding for work-ready tech skills. Skilled tech jobs require skilled workers. Fund our future!

Jo Elsken, Retired FSPS Teacher

The millage increase is needed for our schools to have resources to keep our kids safe, and to prepare them for life. This needed funding is years late, and much needed. Vote “FOR” for our kids, for our city, and for our future!

Dave Cogswell, IT Executive

As a parent of FSPSD students and grandparent of future students, I feel strongly that FSPSD needs to invest in facilities for generations. The needs were there when my children were in school. We are overdue as a community to lend our support to our children. Let’s look forward and plan to grow!

Lorie Robertson, FCRA Director of Marketing

I would like my kindergarten son to receive the same 21st century education my daughter received in Dallas, Austin, and Phoenix. Because the “The World is Flat”, children in Fort Smith must have the same access as their counterparts across the nation.

Talicia Richardson, Parent

Security, improvements in order to move 9th grade to high school and create middle schools. Must do to attract businesses to move here.

David Craig, Professional

I want my Grandkids to have the best education possible.

Frances Nichols, Retired

I support this because our future is in the children’s hands and we owe it to them to give them the best education possible.

Margaret Ross, Therapist for Autistic Children

I highly favor the new millage increase for FSPS, it is long overdue. The top reason I am 110% for this increase is for the security and safety of our students. Also to increase class sizes, so we are not busing kids across town to attend school. They have to arrive early and get back so late.

Amanda Coffman, Williams/Crawford – Executive, Parent, PTA Treasurer

As a student, I have seen first hand some of the challenges that our schools currently face. The millage proposal would help to improve the quality of education that every student in the district receives. It is essential that we invest in education to pave the way for students to succeed.

Miles Epperson, Student at Southside High School

We cannot be complacent. We must continue to improve our schools in order to attract families and business. FSPS does an amazing job and are good stewards of our tax dollars. This ensures our future success! In order to be competitive, we must invest in our city & our kids! Our students deserve it.

Susan Krafft, Parent
